Blog 2: The Project

Harder and harder, this project seemed to get. The sleepless nights became a touch overwhelming, but will it be worth it? I hope it will. However, it is not the first or even the third time I went to bed late.

The First Project, right off the bat, was a lot to take in. The pages of information and their requirements gave me a headache on sight. Lines and lines of code were typed, which includes moments where I lost track of what was coded. At one moment everything made sense and was operating properly. The next, a line is off or a misspelled seemingly, insignificant word. The study groups helped as much as they could and the labs posted were alright. Outside research was definitely needed in order to progress any further in building the project. Is it perfect? Oh no, it definitely isn’t. But I tried my best and the positivity from my classmates made me feel better. It helped me realize that I wasn’t alone in working on this.

It’s weird not being able to see people in person and communicate through Slack. However, we made it work. Extensive reading was done in and outside of the labs and study groups. The amount of times I had to Google possible solutions and definitions are endless. My search history never looked so complex. Loose planning was done as well, which is impressive considering the limited time I had with my full-time job. The flow charts came in handy to map out what I had in mind for this project, and my notebooks are scrawled with notes (that need to be reorganized). All that’s left for me to accomplish is the assessment with an instructor. I had listened to plenty of advice on what to expect when going to my first assessment. Although I’m still nervous, I’m glad I make time to prepare myself. Hopefully, whoever the instructor is, goes easy on me. The project became a lot real quick for me and I’m sure it went just the same for plenty of other people. But I believe if I keep my head, stay positive, and study hard, I’ll pass the assessment.
